So, who is this Professor Queen-Bee?
Professor Queen-Bee (AKA Teresa Verney-Brookes) has an academic background in Ecology and Environmental Science. She uses a range of artforms - including puppetry, clowning plus her world famous flea circus - as conduits to convey complex issues around wildlife conservation and sustainability in fun and accessible ways. Teresa has coined the phrase of ‘Eco-Clowning’ to describe her work.
Professor Queen-Bee performs her shows at several Local Nature Reserves and is a regular at large festivals including Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, Twinwood Festival and The Goodwood Revival. She has also appeared on Radio 4’s ‘Saturday Live’ and her travelling Punch and Judy theatre featured on Channel 4’s ‘Amazing Spaces’. Teresa is also somewhat of a regular on her local radio station - BBC Berkshire.
Professor Queen-Bee frequently collaborates with other well-know arts organisations such as The Annual Daydream Harvest, Beautiful Creatures, Rost Productions Limited and Nature Nurture CIC plus wildlife charities such including The Woodland Trust and The Wildlife Trusts. She is also a member of the National Association of Outdoor Artists (NASA) and has been a committee member of the Punch and Judy Fellowship (PJF) for several years.
When not in full motley as Professor Queen-Bee - Teresa also runs an Outdoor Environmental Education and Forest School consultancy - called ‘Green Trees’. She has also worked in a wildlife/nature consultancy role with other arts companies - for example she was employed by Simon Daw to advise on Nightingales for his project.
